Healing Process
Proper aftercare is crucial to ensuring your tattoo heals properly. Keeping the area clean and moisturized, avoiding swimming/hot tubs, and avoiding direct sunlight until fully healed is non-negotiable. The healing process for a tattoo can vary depending on your health + hydration, the size, location, and intricacy of the design. Generally, it takes about 2-4 weeks for the tattoo to fully heal. If you do not have any adhesive allergy and you're not getting a large scaled piece, your artist will likely put a derm-shield on you that will stay on 3-5 days. After this time you will remove the derm shield slowly in the shower, or under warm water. Be sure to remove like a command strip, pulling the second skin parallel to your skin rather than away like a bandaid. Clean the area with antibacterial soap 1-2x daily or as needed. Use thin layers of aftercare product (Hustle Butter or Ora's Herbal preferred) multiple times throughout the day ensuring it doesn't dry out. During this time, it's very important to follow proper aftercare instructions and avoid picking or scratching at the tattoo and limiting water (pool, hot tub) & sun exposure.
